Definition of the word bird feeder

The term "bird feeder" first appeared in the English language in the late 1800s. It refers to a device designed for providing birdseed or other forms of food to wild birds in their natural habitat. The idea of feeding birds can be traced back to ancient cultures around the world, as depicted in various artifacts and historical texts. In ancient Rome, for instance, it was customary to feed birds in gardens and villas as a sign of hospitality and prosperity. However, it wasn't until the Victorian era in Britain that the concept of bird feeding became more popular among the general public.
