Definition of the word carrot

The word "carrot" originated from the Old English term "carrot", which was derived from the Latin word "cara", meaning "flesh" or "head". The Latin word is thought to have come from the Greek word "karanon", which referred to the root of the plant. The Greek word is itself believed to be a corruption of the Prakrit word "krāhu", which is derived from the Sanskrit word "kravaḍḍha".
