Definition of the word crew chief

The term "crew chief" originally emerged during the early days of aviation in the 1920s. As air travel became more common, airplane crews grew in size and complexity. Each airplane had a pilot, of course, but there were also other essential personnel, including navigators, radio operators, and mechanics, who worked together as a team to operate and maintain the aircraft.
