Definition of the word jamboree

The word "jamboree" originated in the 18th century from the Hindi word "jamboree" or "jamborī," which means "gathering" or "meeting." The term was initially used in British India to describe a large and boisterous gathering of people, often a military review or a festive event. In the early 19th century, the word gained popularity in the United States and Europe, particularly during the Scouting movement.
