Definition of the word pommel horse

The term "pommel horse" may seem like an unusual name for a piece of sports equipment, but its origins actually date back to the early development of gymnastics as a sport. In the 19th century, gymnastics shifted from its original focus on strength and fitness to a more artistic form involving elaborate routines and body movements.
