Definition of the word power point

The term "PowerPoint" is commonly used to refer to a type of presentation software developed by Microsoft Corporation in 1987. The word "PowerPoint" did not appear out of thin air but instead has a fascinating backstory. At the time, Robert Gaskins, the creator of PowerPoint, was working on a presentation software named "Presenter" for a company called Forethought, Inc. However, Microsoft Corporation acquired Forethought in 1987, and Gaskins was offered the opportunity to continue developing the product under the Microsoft banner. Gaskins and his team worked on enhancing Presenter, adding more features to make it more powerful than its predecessor. During this process, Gaskins was inspired by Steve Jobs's keynote address, which he had attended. Apple had just unveiled the Macintosh computer, and Jobs's presentation was stunning, using animation and graphics to convey his ideas more effectively. Gaskins realized that a similar tool could be developed for Microsoft Windows, which was then being developed. The new presentation tool was christened "PowerPoint." The term was meant to convey the software's ability to present information in a powerful and persuasive manner. Since its release in 1990, PowerPoint has become an integral part of the business world, used in presentations, meetings, and conferences worldwide. Today, it is estimated that more than 500 million PowerPoint presentations are created annually, making it a ubiquitous part of the modern workplace.
