Definition of the word push in

The phrase "push in" originally came from the world of cinematography and refers to the action of a camera operator moving the camera closer to the subject during a scene. In cinematography, camera operators use a variety of techniques to manipulate the camera's position to achieve specific visual effects. One such technique is the "push-in", where the camera moves inwards, i.e., zooms in while simultaneously physically moving closer to the subject. This technique is often used to create a more intimiate or intense effect, bringing the viewer closer to the action or dialogue.
