Definition of the word quiz

The origin of the word "quiz" is attributed to Francis Quezi, an Irish actor and writer who lived in Dublin in the 18th century. In 1785, Quezi opened a pub in Dublin where he would engage customers in witty and humorous conversations. To test their knowledge and wit, Quezi would ask them clever and tricky questions, which became known as "Quezi's questions" or "quizzes." Over time, the term "quiz" evolved to refer to the questions themselves, and eventually, any test of knowledge or intelligence. Ironically, Quezi's pub did not become a huge success, and he eventually closed down the business. However, the word "quiz" lived on, and today it is used globally to describe a fun and engaging way to test one's knowledge or understanding of a particular topic or subject.
