nước soda
The term "soda water" originated in the late 18th century in England, when scientists discovered that carbon dioxide could be infused into water through a process called carbonation. This discovery paved the way for the creation of a new beverage, which was first sold in pharmacies as a health tonic due to its supposed medicinal properties. Initially, the two most commonly used terms for this carbonated water were "artificially inspired water" and "fixed air water," both of which referred to the addition of carbon dioxide, which was previously considered a waste product, to water. However, these names were rather long and confusing, making them impractical for commercial use. In 1798, a British scientist and merchant named Joseph Priestley suggested the term "soda water" to describe the carbonated beverage made using soda (nascent carbonate) as an alternative to the lengthy descriptions prevailing at the time. Soda was a chemical compound commonly used for cleansing and refining textiles, and was believed to have medicinal properties. The name "soda water" soon gained popularity, and it was marketed and sold as a refreshing and invigorating beverage that could benefit one's health. As the popularity of carbonated water grew, it became widely consumed, and the beverage industry adopted the term "soda water" in place of the longer and less catchy phrases previously used. Today, the term "soda water" is still used in several parts of the world, particularly in the UK and Ireland, to describe carbonated water. However, in North America, where it is more commonly known as "club soda" or "tonic water," the usage of "soda water" is less common.
