Definition of the word tomorrow

The word "tomorrow" has a rich history dating back to Old English. It is a compound of "to" (meaning "to" or "toward") and "morgem" (meaning "morning"). Initially, the phrase "tō mōrȳ mere" referred to the morning after the current day. Over time, the phrase was contracted to "tomorrow", which eventually became the standard term for the day after today. In Middle English (circa 1100-1500), the word "tomorrow" was often used in combination with "till" or "until" to mean "up until the point of" - for example, "I shall learn all things by tomorrow till thou hast done". By the 16th century, the modern usage of "tomorrow" as we know it today had emerged, referring to the day that follows the present day.
