Definition of the word wall plug

The term "wall plug" can be traced back to the late 19th century when electric power started becoming more common in homes and buildings. Before the widespread adoption of electrical appliances, most lighting and power was produced through gas or steam-driven systems. As electrical systems gained popularity, there was a need for a way to connect appliances to the electrical grid.
